Increasing One’s Faith

February 2, 2016

Faith is indeed a blessing from Allah and should not be taken for granted. Just as it may increase and become fuller and stronger, it may also weaken and become less and less until it is minimal or non-existent. Hence it becomes very important for a Muslim to take steps not only to preserve his faith but also to increase it. The uppermost branch of faith is the true, sincere, committed belief in Laa ilaaha illalaah Muhammad Rasoolulaah. Iman has over seventy branches. The lowest or most basic ... [Continue Reading]

Human Beings Have a Great Capacity for Self-Delusion

February 2, 2016

There are two things one should be take heed of if one wishes to attain success and felicity: 1) To know the details of the means of attaining good and evil, and to beclear about these through witnessing them in the world around, through one'sown experience and that of others, as well as through reports one has heardabout earlier and latter nations. Our Sins after we Repent from Them

February 2, 2016

The Qur’ân and Sunnah speak frequently and emphatically about the fact that a worshipper who repents and asks forgiveness for his sins will be forgiven and will not be asked about those sins again. [Sûrah al-Furqân: 70] Ibn Kathîr discusses the issue ... [Continue Reading]

Taking Account Of The Self

February 2, 2016

Alif Laam Meem. Do the people think that they will be left to say, 'We believe' and they will not be tried? But We have certainly tested those before them, and indeed, Allah knows those who are truthful, and He knows those who lie. [Qur'an 29:17] The duty of enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong is especially difficult when practised on one's own self. Familiarity takes the edge off of criticism; and Shaytaan is ever prepared to defend the erring soul with countless excuses, for ... [Continue Reading]

February 2, 2016

Praise be to Allah. Peace of mind, contentment, happiness and freedom from worries and anxiety. These things are what everyone wants, and these are the ways in which people can have a good life and find complete happiness and joy. There are religious means of achieving that, and natural and practical means, but no one can combine all of them except the believers; although other people may achieve some of them, they will miss out on others. Here follows a summary of the means of achieving this ... [Continue Reading]
